It’s hard to overstate the need for new faces on the Santa Clara City Council.
To understand why, consider some of the council’s failures:
We invited all Santa Clara City Council candidates to speak directly to the voters through The Weekly’s print publication
Though they excel in their chosen fields, South Asians tend to ‘play it safe’ when it comes to running for public office
Harbir was featured by India Currents magazine in their SHORT TAKES
Fighting CVRA Lawsuit Will Likely Cost Santa Clara $3.97 Million More Than It Cost Sunnyvale To Avoid One
When it comes to the California Voting Rights Act (CVRA), doing the right thing is also the fiscally prudent thing to do.
We need to make changes in the systemic racism of the Santa Clara City Council. Not one of the candidates that our mayor supports is a person of color.
Only 45% of Santa Clara residents are white, according to the 2010 census. However, out of six City Council seats, one mayor and one vice mayor, there is only one councilmember who is not white.
